product design College of Design
Careers Header

With the University centered in a major metropolis, collaborations between industry and academia are common. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul is a design center in the United States and home to major product design companies like Target, 3M, General Mills, and Medtronic. We are also a global leader in medical products, food and agriculture products, 3D printing, product marketing, and themed play structures. As real-world experience is critical to a product designer, the major requires all students to do two separate internships.

Students graduating with this degree may be suitable for jobs of "industrial designer", "product designer" or "product engineer." Graduates may also be suitable for careers in market and user research, branding, packaging, or advertising. Some graduates may want to be entrepreneurs and start their own ventures. It is also possible to go into positions related to product, market or user research, branding, packaging, or advertising.
